In the early 2000’s Alan Emblin brought a business partner, John Jenkins, into A.G. Emblin Pty Ltd and changed the company’s name to Ricon Contractors Pty Ltd. Initially, Ricon was contracted to erect Ritek Building Systems in a variety of projects, while continuing to build in remote areas across Australia.

In 2009, the Ricon team received some well deserved recognition to win the WA Master Buildings Award for Building Excellence.
Alan’s building company A.G. Emblin Pty Ltd was also responsible for introducing the building systems produced by Surelock Home Systems (later to become Ritek Building Solutions), into a range of remote area projects across Australia during the 80’s & 90’s.

These projects included Aboriginal housing, police stations, schools and government staff accommodation, constructed for the Queensland Government throughout Torres Strait and Cape York communities.

Other projects included the construction of Elquestro Station and Emma Gorge Resort in the Kimberley. Alan has also been involved in projects in New Caledonia, Guam, Honiara and the Phillipines.

To the present day Alan has been responsible for the development and refinement of the range of wall and roof systems that are currently produced by Ritek Building Solutions.

These wall and roof systems are proving so successful that factories are currently being built in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and India to manufacture Ritek Building Systems for use in numerous multi-storey residential buildings in those countries. Achieving the acceptance in countries where labour is cheap and plentiful such as India speaks volumes about how cost effective these building systems have become.

Alan recently sold his partnership in Ricon Contractors Pty Ltd to focus solely on the establishment and development of both Build First and Pod First. Build First, through Alan and his staff have over 30 years of experience in remote area construction.

The experience gained in remote area construction has driven the need to develop new building systems. The aim has been to provided a system that meets the demands of remote areas, that is, cyclone resistant, suitable for marine environments, won’t rust, is termite proof and is strong, robust and durable.

The Pod First system should minimise the number of loose components required to be procured, packed and transported to site. It is necessary for it to travel well and assemble easily – as achieved by Ritek Building Systems today.
