About

In 2007 we were invited to enter the Northern Territory Football League on a seven game trial. The Tiwi won all seven games and officially became the eighth NTFL club, ‘Tiwi Bombers’, for the 2007/08 season, securing the double chance in that and the following season but failing to win a finals match.
In season 2009/10 we are well placed to have a major impact in this year’s finals series……

INTRODUCTION

The Tiwi Bombers Football Club took part in a 7 week trial during the AFLNT’s 2006-07 season and following its success the Club was admitted to the competition at the commencement of the 2007/08 season.

The Club became incorporated in January 2008 and completed a very successful
07/08 season.

Being a new organisation , the Club needs to look to its future and the Tiwi Bombers
Board has prepared this Development Plan up to 2012 as a guide to the direction the
Club will take as it grows , develops and evolves as an important part of the Tiwi
community and Northern Territory football.

In its first season (07/08) the team finished the season in fourth position, losing both
of its finals games. The second season (08/09) had a similar result but the team
demonstrated that it had improved but not enough to be competitive in the finals
series.

TIWI BOMBER CLUB

Tiwi Bombers Football Club was introduced into the AFLNT in 2007, at present under coach Leigh Crossman they are fourth on the AFLNT 2011/12 Ladder, and improving every week.

THE NAME

The ‘Tiwi Bombers’ name was adopted because of our strong relationship with the Essendon Football Club and also because we believe that it is possible to build a successful and prosperous community based on a successful AFL Club.
The values of looking after each other, the work ethic as well as the economic and social well being of its members are all aspects of a successful football club that can be translated to life in general.
